“The Story of Stuff” is a well-done, thought-provoking movie that shows what happens when our system of making stuff, distributing stuff, buying stuff and disposing of stuff meets a finite planet. At noon on April 17, Parkland Library revealed the new Parkland READ poster, featuring Sergeant Yvonne Meyer, Parkland College Public Safety. Chief Young was on hand to introduce Sergeant Meyer, who then talked about the importance of books and reading in her life.
We also formally launched our Parkland Reads: One Book, One College 2008 program with the selection of Garbage Land by Elizabeth Royte. Six copies of the book and two composting tools were given away before an enthusiastic crowd.
